First of all, I want to thank all of you for reading my blog. I'm very very excited to work with everyone, and share my passion for fitness with you. One of the first things I'm going to talk about is nutrition. Nutrition is so integral in achieving your fitness goals that I want to discuss it first.
Nutrition + Weight-Training + Cardio + Supplements + Sleep = Fitness Success
All of the above are important, but nutrition especially so. Essentially, I follow 3 diet plans that I've created from my years of experience training in the gym as well as research into nutrition. I have termed them The Spartan Diet, The Theban Diet and The Athenian Diet. The Spartan diet is the most rigid of the three and is used to get 'ripped.' I use it 4 to 6 weeks before a photo shoot or DVD shoot. The Athenian Diet is the most lenient of the three, and is designed when I want to gain muscle/bodyweight. I generally shoot photos around 210 lbs, but walk around close to 220 lbs. By going on The Athenian Diet immediately after I finish a photo shoot/DVD shoot, I am able to go from 210 to 220 lbs. The Theban Diet is in the middle of The Spartan Diet and The Athenian Diet - meaning, it's not as strict as The Spartan, but not as indulgent as The Athenian. I use the Theban if I feel that I'm getting too lean, and/or that my muscles are looking 'flat.' For example, say I'm 3 weeks away from a photo shoot and I weigh in at 209, which would be too light (I never go under 210, ever.) So, after stepping off of the scale I would transition from The Spartan to the Theban for a week or so to add a few pounds back.
I'm going to post 3 separate posts following this, which will be a shopping list for each diet plan.
