Kai Au Interview and Pics
Posted on Saturday December 29, 2007 by Pete

Kai Au originally contacted me to work with me on FitnessWorkoutsInc.  I thought he would be a great person to interview for this site, because he's a very experienced BB competitor and Fitness Model with a promising future.

PeterAdonis: So, first off Kai, tell us your stats?

I'm 5'8" currently 186 lbs. Believe it or not....

PeterAdonis: Where did you grow up? What was your childhood like? Were you interested in fitness at an early age?

I grew up in Kansas City....LOL I didn't have much of a childhood. I didn't even have a bike like other kids. I really didn't. As a matter of fact a lot of people told me I was the most the worst sports player...I didn't get in to bodybuilding until 4 years ago.

PeterAdonis: What competitions have you competed in? Did you enjoy competing?

2006 NPC Kentucky Muscle
2007 NPC Northern Kentucky
2007 NPC Southern Indiana
2007 IFBB North American

I loved every minute of it. It actually proves to yourself and others that you could accomplish the impossible.

PeterAdonis: What is your current training regiment right now?

LOL If I told you I probably won't have a personal training business anymore. Just kidding...

My weekly regimen usually follows:
Chest/ abs
Back
Tricep/ Bicep
Shoulders (I want to make sure everything's recovered before I hit shoulders)
Legs (yes! All of it in one shot!) and abs
Rest
....then I start the process

PeterAdonis: What do you think is your most impressive bodypart? Which bodypart is your favorite to train? Least favorite to train?

HMMMM.....Think the best part for me would be Chest and Back...I love working on those bodyparts...Believe it or not, the one body part I hate training the most is arms.

PeterAdonis: Who are your heroes in general? Who are your heroes in fitness/bodybuilding? Which physique is your favorite?

In general: The 14th Dalai Lama, Tammy Rennee of Real Gainz Magazine, and Pope John Paul
in BB: Arnold the Governator, Chris Cook, and Eryk Bui
Physique: I never really thought of that....I compare bodybuilders by what the do and accomplished....but that's just me. I'll let the judges do the physique comparing....it's only fair.

PeterAdonis: If there one thing that you would tell a beginner about training, what would it be?

Stick with positive mental thinking and don't care about the naire do-alles. When somebody throws a tomato at you....make a pizza! HAHA!

PeterAdonis: What do you do as a profession, a 9 to 5 job?
I work as a personal trainer. And I work as Real Gainz Magazine's part-time ad sales rep....I do some fitness modeling here and there. And of course, I run an e-commerce based home business.

PeterAdonis: What are your plans for the next year? Are you going to compete at all? Photoshoots?

If all things go smoothly this year....I am planning and hoping to compete at the Junior Nationals and North American shows this year...Photoshoots? I hope so...it's been a while since I had any modeling gigs....we'll see.

Jeff: Cool interview. Love seeing your site expand. While you're my foremost expert on training it's cool to see an outside perspective.
