Hatton, Mayweather - last meal
Posted on Sunday December 09, 2007 by Pete
I just returned from watching the Hatton, Mayweather fight. It was a very exciting fight, but I was a bit disappointed, because I was pulling for Ricky Hatton. I watched every episode of Mayweather, Hatton 247, so I felt like I knew both fighters. Beforehand I went to a Greek restaurant called Taverna OPA and had a tremendous dinner. I had keftedes, which are basically Greek meatballs, roasted red peppers, and hummus as an appetizer. For the main course I had lamb chops, which were excellent, maybe because it's been such a while since I've had lamb.
Just now before bed, I've had a protein packed final meal of the day so that my muscles can 'grow' as I sleep. I had 1 hard boiled egg, a 42 gram protein shot, a 20 gram protein pudding. So, I had about 70 grams of protein just now. I always try to get a good portion of protein before bed, especially casein protein (egg, cottage cheese) because it is slowly released into the bloodstream, meaning, it will last through the night. Whey protein is much more fastly absorbed, which is why it is ideal for post-workout, because you want it into your bloodstream immediately, but casein is perfect for bed-time. Night night!
